Aino Mustonen of Finland wins the top prize at global invention awards with Ecobond, an alternative to cement
GlobalWIIN recognised an outstanding array of trailblazing ideas by women from around the world at an event in East London
To mark International Women’s Day 2024 (Friday, March 8), the Global Women Inventors & Innovators Network (GlobalWIIN) have launched this year’s search for the brightest, most ingenious women for its Global Inventor and innovator of the Year Awards.
Fatec Oy engineer Aino received main award for the Ecobond innovation made with patented energy-efficient technology from industrial by-products.
More than 70 women from several different nations attended the conference in London at Plexal Here East, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and entered the awards which were presented at the Gordon Ramsay Bread Street Kitchen & Rooftop. The gathering was an opportunity for talented, entrepreneurial women to network and showcase their inventions.
The theme of this year’s conference, held at the, was “Women Driving the Growth of Sustainability, Responsible Innovation & Inclusivity”. Founder of the event, Bola Olabisi said: “Congratulations to the winners and all the finalists. The ideas submitted were brilliant. There was such as overwhelming response to this year’s theme. Sustainability is critical and the entrants this year show that there are many inspiring ideas women around the world are developing to manage our resources.”
The GlobalWIIN Global Inventor and innovator of the Year Awards event is designed to help bridge the gender gap in science and technology as well as increase the success of innovations that truly matter. GlobalWIIN received the support and sponsorship of SHIFT London, providing it with the opportunity to host the event at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in the heart of East London.
